Whoopee! Mo Manning

What's not to love about this image --- and some birthdays, this just about says it all.  My friend Lyse is not yet 50, but I loved this image so much I had to use it for her as she's always fussing that she's getting so old!  As if!!! I had to add some bling to the card because I really like Lyse and all my friends know that I put bling on cards for people I like!  I find the image's eyes rivetting and really draw you in.  I hope Lyse likes it and isn't offended!

Baby and Bunny - Mo Manning

I use this Mo Manning image a lot for baby congratulations -- it's easy to change up for a boy or a girl, and the bunny is so sweet.  One of my colleagues just became a grandfather for the first time and this card is for my boss to send to him.  It is always a bit challenging to make a card for a man to send to a man --- I can't get too glitzy or frilly, but I also don't want the card to be boring!  I think this was a nice compromise!

Computer Geek -- Happy Birthday Adam

My nephew is a computer game geek -- when he's not working, he's spending his time before his 2-monitors; snazzy sound system; mega-memory computer playing some kind of role-playing games I think.  I'm surprised he's not blind by now but then again, I'm just his old aunt, what do I know?  I love this Mo Manning image, but I've got to say it takes a long time to colour as it is very detailed!  The end result is always so impressive though!

Congratulations - Twins!

I can only imagine the hard work and fatigue that having twins involves --- but then again - you do get double the pleasure and joy at two little bundles of love.  One of my colleagues recently had twins and this card was made for my boss to send to her in congratulations.  She had a baby girl and a baby boy -- so unless she decides to keep going and help repopulate the planet, she's all set!

Sympathy Card Series

This next series of sympathy cards were in large part cased from others I say on Pinterest.  The first for instance uses Stampin' Up images; Copic Markers to make the bands of colour - and was posted on SplitCoast Stampers by Rokale; the second, using Stampin' Up's Inspired by Nature; the third Stampin' Up's Swallowtail - corners by SCACD; the forth a Memory Box Tree; and the 5th another Stampin' Up- Thoughts and Prayers

Baby Congratulations - Mo Manning

One of our units at work is populated largely by young women, just starting their families so I seem to spend a lot of time making congratulations cards for my boss to send!  This cute little Mo Manning image is so sweet I thought it would be perfect.  I also decided to try out one of my border embossing folders --- not too bad for a first attempt. The baby to me looks just so darn cuddly!

Queen of Hearts - Mo Manning

I have a friend who is an avid Bridge player and she's also kind of well-rounded like the image below.  She can be a bit dictatorial now that I think of it as well, so all-in-all this was a perfect image for her.  I sometimes wonder what I did before I discovered Mo Manning --- to say I'm a fan is apt when you consider the word fan is a derivative of the word fanatic!  On the inside I stamped a new sentiment I got from Art Impressions --- it says "Happy 29th birthday ... from your 110 pound friend" -- apt again in both cases!

For my Boys

My two grandsons live about 6 hours away and I don't get to see them nearly as often as I'd like.  Regardless, I think of them always.  Recently they both started playing soccer, but when I made these cards, Danny hadn't started yet.  Nicholas in his first 2 games scored a goal in each game - which is a major achievement as last year he was somewhat timid on the field.  So, I made him the soccer card and put $5 into it as he loves money and shopping!!  I couldn't not send Danny anything so I made him the bicycle card and put a $2 coin under the BMX circle.  Megan tells me that Danny usually just rips his cards apart to get to the money and she has to reassemble them after!  Oh well!!

Thoughts & Prayers - Heather Telford cased Card

If you've never had a look at Heather Telford's creations check them out.  She does some amazing work -- doing a lot of masking; sponging, etc.  This card is my version of her expertly executed card.  I have to do a bit more experimenting to get some sharper edges on my masks, but all-in-all I'm happy with how this turned out.  I don't know that I ever would have thought of doing this on my own, but loved Heather's card and figured it couldn't be improved on, so I copied it!  I still love it even if it wasn't my idea!

Whimsie Doodles - Hoothooray

My niece, after 4 long years, has graduated as a registered nurse.   She has done extremely well and applied herself diligently - holding down a part-time job -- while studying and maintaining a very good average.  And, she has a full-time job now as well, and she has recently become engaged -- so her real life now begins.  We weren't able to go to her graduation party unfortunately, but I still wanted to give her a card and tell her how proud we are of her.

Oddly Sweet Curiosities - Get Well

These little creatures are just delightful and can be obtained from SCACD (Susanna's Custom Art and Card Design) and if you don't live in the States (which I don't and can no longer order from her unless I have an American address - which is another story), then you can also order from Elaine Hughes at Quixotic Paperie so all is not lost!  This little guy comes with a sentiment that says that it may not look like I'm doing anything but at a cellular level I'm very busy --- I didn't think a sick person would appreciate that, so just stamped get well!

LOTV - Occasions - Get Well

One of my colleagues had surgery in June and this card was for the director to send to her to wish her a speedy recovery.  I find that I don't have sufficient variety of get well sentiments - at least not in the font or size I want so have made up a page of printed ones that I produced in Word -- the trick will now be to find the sheet when I need it!  I love these little images - and I think the background paper is quite pretty!

I really miss my Grandchilden

These next four cards I made to send to my little grandchildren who all live away from me - boo hoo!  While I wish we lived closer, it does make it extra special to see them when we can all get together.  Luckily the girls only live a little over 3 hours away; while the boys are about 6 hours away so we don't see them quite as often.  My husband refers to the boys as the hurricane and the tornado - which is kind of true, but they are boys!  The girls are typical lovely, moody and chatty -- perfect!  I as always hide a $2 coin on the front of each card which the kids now expect!  In order, the cards are for:  Nicholas; Daniel; Emily and Kaitlin - Materials: Images: 1) Magnolia; 2&3) Kraftin' Kimmie; 4) Oddly Sweet Curiosities; All coloured with Copic markers

Mo Manning - Introducing Oscar

This image is perfect for anyone over 40 I think!  (And I can say that at almost 60!) Poor Oscar looks somewhat bewildered - the sentiment inside says something to the effect that inside every older person is a younger person wondering what happened!  How true.  My husband and I were just commenting that it has been a year since he retired - yet is seems like only a couple of months ago --- I'm hoping that since I only have 1 more year to go before I retire it will go quickly - then it can slow down!
