Happy Birthday Gaston

One of my dear friends and colleagues and coincidentally my 4th cousin twice removed (or whatever - his mother and my grandmother were first cousins) had a birthday on January 4th.  It is kind of bitter sweet this year because Gaston is leaving to take on another job with another friend Candys (who you may have read about on my blog before -- Candys who I shall now think of as a friend/corporate raider) - but I digress.  Gaston is a very full-of-life kind of guy and loves to ski; take walks in the bush; spend time with his family, etc.  I thought this little Miles skiing kind of personified Gaston -

Thank you Tom

Another abandoning member of the committee!  This guy is an engineering sort, so I thought the embossed gears and the nifty SCACD Corner die would be just perfect.  Also the black and white simplicity of it might just appeal to him.  As I mentioned previously I have been a real Pinterest addict of late and quite like all the embossing I've been seeing so am incorporating it more so into my designs.  Which is good because I appear to have a $#!% load of embossing folders I have got to start using.  My stash of stuff is getting out of hand and before I get accused of hoarding, I'd better start putting everything to good use!  I think this card is good use so I'll pat myself on the back!

Ship in a Bottle - Farewell Rick

My friend Rick is great -- he's funny; caring; smart and generally great to know.  He is however, another one of the individuals who has left the committee I've been working on.  If this exodus continues I may also have to jump ship, but after bamboozling one of committee chairs into taking on the position I don't think I should abandon her just yet!  Regardless, I made this card for Rick with pleasure.  Rick loves to dive and so I thought a sailing ship would be the ticket.  I saw some very similar cards - at least the idea definitely on Pinterest and loved it -- so I cased it (I believe the term is) from a woman I will likely never meet, but an happy to steal from!  Her name is Cilou (I think) and her blog is as: here - check it out she's got some great stuff -- and thank you Cilou in case you ever find out I've used your idea!

Thanks a Million Susan

While I love this image, I don't know if I'm that happy with what I did with the sign part of it but after fiddling with it; trying different things; wrecking a couple, I gave up!  I think though that it looks a bit like flip-chart paper so that kind of fits in.  This is to another of our departing committee members.  This person wasn't on the committee long, but she was very enthusiastic and had to step aside because her regular job is so hectic and time consuming that I fear it will be the death of her.  I wanted something pretty so think that the jewels, bow and embossing kind of compliments the overall prettiness of the little girl!

Farewell and Thanks

One of the committee's I'm involved with at work is going through quite a transition -- which sounds more positive than people are jumping ship like rats!  Having said that, some of the folks that are leaving will be truly missed --- as luck would have it sometimes the people you want to leave just stick around forever --- but that's another story.  This card, and the next few I'll be posting over the next few days is to one of our departing members.  I have to make these big so the remaining members can sign off and wish our former members good luck, etc!
