There Be Pirix

My friend Maria's little girl, Sophia, turned 3 on the 26th, and she loves pirates, which she calls "Pirix" - hence the title.  So, I made her a girl pirate!  It was a lot of fun, and because she's a little girl, I included the obligatory $2 under the treasure chest.  Hope she likes it!

With Sympathy

One of my friend's step-mother recently died, and I know that she had a good relationship with her, and is likely mourning her death.  I find sympathy cards kind of tough to do -- you can't be too fussy but you also can't be too boring!  I decided to use the Cute Card Thursday's  something Krafty challenge 165 as inspiration for the colour pallet.  Hopefully I won't go to hell using a sympathy card for a challenge!

Thank You Helen

My mother-in-law and I will be going spring plant shopping tomorrow and staying overnight at a friend of Sandy's - the Helen in the title!  I have never met this woman, but since she is kindly offering me hospitality, I thought a card was in order.  I'll also get a bunch of flowers to accompany it - hopefully that will do!
I'm also entering it into a couple of contests.  First Mojo Monday's Sketch 191; and second ABC Challenge's "U" for Unusual fold - hence the second shot of this card showing the fold - which is unusual for me at least!

Spinning Lyse

I have a friend who spins and weaves.  At one time she even raised Angora rabbits for the fur for spinning and knitting --- she even met Martha Stewart who was impressed.  I'm impressed with her for many other reasons, but this stuff at least applies to the image - and is the reason I bought the stamp in the first place!  This time I'm making Lyse's birthday card early, and entering it into a few contests:  Stamping Scrapping Challenge - Birthdays; Paper Sundaes - Pop it Up; and Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge - "text me".

Birthday Peeker

This card is for a friend of mine who retired from the ministry a few years back.  While I was home sick one year, Arlene never failed to send me cards and little missives every week.  I truly appreciated her thoughtfulness so, even though I never see her anymore, I continue to send her birthday cards.  Hope she likes them!
This card allowed me to use one of my new Elizabeth  Bell peekers!  They are sooooo cute I think.

Birthday Mice

Susan (quite possibly my best customer!) asked me to make a card for someone she works with -- the someone is actually the customer, ordering through Susan - if that matters!  This was a bit hard to make as it is for someone I don't know to give to a 1 year-old baby girl - who I also don't know --- So, since I do like these Miles and Mazie images, here they are!  I'm entering this card into the Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central contest and the Paper Sundaes  birthday card challenge.  Maybe if I enter more challenges I'll win?

Kiera's Baby

My next door neighbour's daughter recently had a baby girl --as you'll see in another post...Kiera is a big sister now, so I made her a card to congratulate her on sisterhood.  She is apparently very much looking forward to having a little sister or brother.  I hope though she won't mind there's no money on this card!  I have entered this card in  Cute Card Thursdays Distressing Challenge--- I did destress the edges of the circle with blue ink!

Steph and John - New Baby

My next door neighbour's daughter and her husband greeted their new baby -- on May 9th -- a little girl.  I had made the card before I knew she was a girl, hence the gender neutral colours!   Steph had asked Barb to keep it secret --- at the beginning - and Barb carried it all the way through - I found out by accident 2 weeks before the due date that Stephanie was even pregnant!  Anyway, I'll forgive them because at least didn't have a long time to wait.  It also gave me a chance to use this cute new Kraftin' Kimmie stamp!

Congratulations Megan

My lovely daughter Megan recently earned a promotion at work.  Not surprising because she is quite brilliant, but it always gratifying when others agree with the mother!  I really like this Whiff of Joy stamp for this type of celebration, so anybody who has followed my blog (thanks Jenn) will likely recognize the stamp!

Happy Birthday Adam

My nephew Adam lives the life of Riley -- he works at a job he quite likes; has no living expenses because it's a travelling job so they house and feed him; and has no one to answer to --- he's a basic rolling stone who, on his off time loves to watch TV, and play games.  My husband when I first showed him this card said -- it looks like Adam --- and I hadn't told him who it was for yet!  So this is a good thing!!  Materials:  Stamp:  Mo Manning; DP: SU: Colour by Copic

Congratulations on your Wedding

I've actually made 2 cards for this person's wedding --- one from me (the LOTV) one and one from my boss (the Magnolia one) --- My boss sends cards (made by me!) to staff who are celebrating or experiencing a life event - births, sickness, weddings, death -- that type of thing.  Lucky for me, he buys them from me!  For some staff who I really like, I also make a card for them from me!  So, this lucky lady in the Sault will get two cards for the same event, both made by me.  The first is the Magnolia one:  I am also entering this card into the Crazy Challenge - this week's #67 Pink and Green!
Materials:  Stamp:  Magnolia; Sentiment: SU: DP K&Company; Colour by Copic; Corner punch: Fiskars; Spellbinder dies

This next card is the one from me --- I feel a bit more comfortable putting flowers and stuff on cards from me, but not so much for cards I do for my boss to send, since he's a guy!  Regardless, I also had the challenge of making 2 different cards for the same theme and the same person.  Hope she doesn't notice it's the same Spellbinder die as the one on the other card!

Happy Mother's Day - Trio of Cards

Although I obviously make a mother's day card for my mom, I also make one for each of my daughters who are also mothers.  I do this to make sure they know that I think they are fabulous mothers and that I'm lucky to be their mother.  For my Mom this year I decided to get her an Amazon gift card so she can continue to load her Kindle with material.  Her card is featured first - in 2 parts.  The first one shows the card with the "book" closed; the second shot is what's on the inside of the book.
Materials:  Stamps:  Kraftin' Kimmie; Sentiment:  CTMH: Colour by Copic; Bow by Boweasy

This next card is for my daughter Sarah, my eldest.  She is a teacher, currently pregnant with her second child and feeling quite frazzled right now.  This image made me think of her!
Materials:  Stamp:  Kraftin' Kimmie; DP: K&Company: Colour by Copic

And last but not least, the card for my youngest daughter Megan.  Meg has 2 boys so these little bears are meant to represent Megan and her boys.

Welcome Home Barb

My friend Barb, who I neglect terribly, is finally home (I'm pretty sure) from her winter vacation in Florida.  I figured since I'm a very delinquent type of friend, I'd ingratiate myself by sending her a welcome home card . she's probably prefer if I actually called her, but ..... what can I say? I've already confessed to being a delinquent friend!!  The box on the front is to be opened and displays some homey type furniture and scene (also CTMH)
Materials: Images and Sentiment:  CTMH: DP & CS: SU; Sizzix - corner decorations.
